What if you watched your next film in your own private cinema at home?
At Liva, we design and install dedicated home theatre rooms in Brussels, Antwerp and across Belgium. Each project is a room built entirely for film, where picture quality, immersive sound, acoustics and comfort come together to bring the big-screen experience into your home.
Attic, basement, garage or unused room: every space holds new possibilities. From the design of the room to the custom audiovisual installation, we create a solution tailored to your interior, your wishes and the technical requirements of the space.
Far more than a screen and a few speakers, we create a true cinema experience at home.
Designing a dedicated home theatre room
To recreate the feel of a professional cinema at home, every detail matters. A room devoted entirely to film lets you control the environment, minimise distractions and fully enjoy both picture and sound.
For the most discerning film lovers, the Black Box concept takes immersion even further. Walls, ceiling and sometimes the floor are finished in dark tones to limit light reflections and reveal the full contrast of the image. Indirect lighting and integrated LED spotlights complete the space without breaking the atmosphere.
Screen size, viewing distance and seating layout are carefully planned for a comfortable, immersive experience. Every element has its place in a true private cinema, designed down to the smallest detail.

How we create your cinema room at home
- Consultation: We get to know your space and your wishes, at your home or in our showroom in Brussels or Antwerp.
- Design: From projector and sound to seating, materials and finishes, we draw up every detail of your room.
- Build: Soundproofing, acoustic treatment, cabling and equipment installation.
- Calibration: Sound and picture are measured and fine-tuned in the finished room.
- Opening night: We show you how to use your system so you can enjoy it straight away.
Precise acoustic treatment for immersive sound
In a home screening room, sound quality depends as much on the room’s acoustics as on the speakers themselves. Resonances, echoes and poorly controlled bass can distort the soundtrack and blur dialogue. Tailored acoustic treatment, combining absorption panels, diffusers and bass traps, delivers balanced, controlled sound.
From 5.1 surround to Dolby Atmos in up to 7.1.4 channels, every speaker is positioned and calibrated to the characteristics of the room, creating an enveloping soundstage that stays true to the original soundtrack.
Soundproofing and equipment integration
To fully enjoy every film, silence matters as much as sound. Bespoke soundproofing, combining decoupled walls, a floating ceiling and an acoustic door where needed, limits sound transfer to neighbouring rooms and reduces outside noise. For discreet integration, Dolby Atmos speakers and LED spotlights can be recessed into the ceiling, while in-wall speakers blend seamlessly into the room’s architecture.
A private cinema at home designed around your lifestyle
Films, series, live sport, gaming, concerts or karaoke: your private cinema adapts to everything you love. Designed for quiet evenings as much as for gatherings with friends and family, it becomes a true living space devoted to the audiovisual experience.
Dedicated cinema room or high-end media room, every project brings together screen, sound system, acoustics and lighting to suit your habits and your interior. With home automation, lights, curtains, projector and sound are controlled with a single touch, combining immersion, comfort and seamless integration.

FAQ
What budget should you allow for a dedicated cinema room at home?
The budget depends on the size of the room, the level of soundproofing, the acoustic treatment, the audiovisual equipment and the finishes you choose. Liva designs bespoke solutions tailored to your space, your expectations and your budget.
Which room is best for a private home cinema?
A basement, attic, garage or unused room can all be turned into a dedicated cinema room. A basement cinema room is often a natural choice, as it is easier to darken and soundproof. The right choice depends on the room's dimensions, ceiling height, insulation and layout possibilities. An initial assessment helps determine the most suitable solution.
What is the minimum room size for a home theatre room?
A private cinema at home can be created in a room of around 12 to 15 m². Between 20 and 30 m², you can fully enjoy a Dolby Atmos system and a second row of seats. More than the floor area, it is the proportions that matter: ceiling height, the distance between screen and seats, and the shape of the room all affect both picture and sound. Attic, basement or garage, we assess your space to make the most of it.
What is the difference between a home cinema and a dedicated cinema room?
A home cinema can be integrated into a living room or an existing living space. A dedicated cinema room is designed specifically for the audiovisual experience, with particular attention to darkness, acoustics, soundproofing, projection and comfort.
Does a private home cinema need soundproofing?
Soundproofing limits sound transfer to neighbouring rooms and reduces noise from outside. Depending on the space, it can involve decoupled walls, a floating ceiling and an acoustic door. It is different from acoustic treatment, which aims to optimise the sound inside the room itself.
Do you work throughout Belgium?
Yes. Our teams are based in Brussels and Antwerp, and we create private home cinemas across Belgium, in both Flanders and Wallonia. The first meeting can take place at your home, so we can see the room and its technical requirements, or in one of our showrooms, where you can listen to and compare our audiovisual systems before making a decision. From design to opening night, a single point of contact oversees your project.
How long does it take to build a home theatre room?
It depends on the scale of the project. If the room is already prepared and the work mainly involves the equipment (projector, screen, speakers and calibration), a few weeks are usually enough. A dedicated cinema room with soundproofing, acoustic treatment and bespoke finishes typically takes two to four months, including design and construction work. At our first meeting, we draw up a detailed schedule tailored to your room and to the timing of any other renovation work.
