1. Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 : For everyday and travel
The Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 is the perfect choice if you’re looking for one camera bag that works everywhere, from the office to a weekend away. It holds a mirrorless or DSLR body with a lens attached, plus 2 to 4 extra lenses, including a detached 70-200mm. Rangefinders, TLRs and some medium format systems fit just as easily.
One of the standout features of this camera bag is its versatility. The Quick Release front straps give you fast, silent access to your camera, ideal at a concert or a ceremony. When you travel, the trolley strap slides over your suitcase handle, and the weatherproof rear pocket keeps your documents safe. Remove the padded insert, and the Hadley Pro 2020 turns into an elegant everyday messenger bag.
Handmade in England, the bag is made from Billingham’s FibreNyte, a lightweight three-layer waterproof fabric that protects your equipment in all weather. Leather trim and brass fittings give it a timeless finish that ages beautifully.
The Hadley Pro 2020 is available in several colours, including Sage FibreNyte with Chocolate leather and the all-dark Midnight edition.
2. Billingham Hadley Small Pro: For a compact kit
The Billingham Hadley Small Pro is the perfect choice if you love the Hadley design but travel light. It takes a mirrorless camera or a small to mid-sized DSLR with a lens attached, plus 1 or 2 spare lenses or a flash. Leica users will appreciate that it fits two rangefinders, such as an M11-P and an M6, each with a lens mounted.
One of the standout features of this photo bag is how slim it stays. It sits close to your body and goes unnoticed in a busy street or airport. The sculpted top flap keeps rain out of the main compartment, while the expanding front pockets hold a spare battery, cards or your phone. The Quick Release front straps give you silent access to your camera, and the top handle lets you grab the bag quickly.
Like every Hadley, it is handmade in England from Billingham’s three-layer waterproof fabric and genuine leather. The removable insert turns it into a messenger bag in seconds, and the trolley strap on the back makes it an ideal travel companion.
The Hadley Small Pro is available in several colours, including Black FibreNyte with Black leather and Khaki with Brown leather.
3. Billingham S2: For street photography
The Billingham S2 is the perfect choice if you go out with one camera and nothing else. The smallest bag in Billingham’s S-Series, it fits a compact mirrorless camera such as a Fujifilm X camera or a rangefinder like the Leica M11-P, with a lens attached and a small spare. A fixed-lens camera like the Fujifilm X100VI or the Leica Q3 fits with room to spare.
One of the standout features of this photo bag is how quickly you can reach your camera. Pull the front strap off its brass clogball and the bag is open. With the TukTop feature, you can tuck the zips out of the way when you shoot all day, and the dual zip lets you open just one end of the main compartment. For street photography, it means fewer missed moments.
Despite its size, the S2 is well protected, with thick padding on all four sides, a padded base and repositionable dividers. You can wear it cross-body or on the shoulder, and optional end pockets add extra storage when you need it.
The S2 is available in several colours, including Black FibreNyte with Black leather and Khaki canvas with Brown leather.
4. Artisan & Artist ACAM-1100: For light city days
Small, light and discreet, the Artisan & Artist ACAM-1100 doesn’t look like camera gear at all. Its padded main compartment holds a Leica M or a compact mirrorless camera with up to two lenses, which is all you need for a day in town.
Comfort is what sets it apart. The wide, cushioned shoulder strap spreads the weight, and the anti-slip nylon back panel keeps the bag in place against your body, even when you walk all day. The long leather pull tab makes it easy to open, while the front zip pocket and the back pocket with a snap button keep cards, batteries or your phone within reach.
Made from water-resistant canvas, the ACAM-1100 resists dirt and handles daily use without fuss. Inside, the removable insert and adjustable dividers let you organise your gear as you like. Take the insert out and you have an everyday shoulder bag.
The ACAM-1100 is available in Black. If you need more room, the Classic Shoulder Bag ACAM-3000 follows the same approach in a larger size.
5. Oberwerth The Q Bag: For premium compact cameras
A Leica Q deserves more than a padded nylon pouch. Designed specifically for it, the Oberwerth Q Bag is handcrafted by the German leather maker from soft, full-grain leather that develops a unique patina over time.
Inside, everything has its place. The padded main compartment and its adjustable divider hold your camera alongside the charger, lens hood and small accessories, while the red or light grey lining makes it easy to spot what you need. A spacious front pocket adds extra storage, and Loxx® fasteners keep the bag securely closed when you’re on the move.
The leather protects your camera from splashes and everyday knocks while staying breathable, and the ergonomic design keeps the bag comfortable on your shoulder all day. It works as well at a dinner as on a photo walk.
6. Think Tank FocusPoint RollTop 22L: For travel and everyday carry with a laptop
Half camera bag, half daily backpack, the Think Tank FocusPoint RollTop 22L is made for photographers who don’t want to choose between the two. It takes a compact full-frame body with 2 to 3 f/4 zooms or 4 primes, or an APS-C body with up to 7 lenses, all the way up to a 70-200mm f/4. A padded sleeve holds a 14-inch laptop or an iPad Pro.
What sets it apart is how easily it adapts. Unroll the top and there is room for a jacket or the shopping you picked up on the way home. Take out the camera insert and it becomes a regular travel or work backpack. In the field, side and rear access let you reach your camera without putting the bag down, and the rear opening keeps your gear out of reach of pickpockets in crowded places.
Built for long days, it has a ventilated back panel, a removable waist belt and a magnetic sternum strap for stability. The side pocket holds a tripod or a water bottle, a seam-sealed rain cover is included, and the luggage pass-through slides over your suitcase handle. There is even a hidden pocket for an AirTag. It is made from recycled, PFAS-free, bluesign®-certified materials.
The FocusPoint RollTop 22L is available in Asphalt Black, Greenway, Golden Hour and Urban Rust. For longer trips or a bigger kit, it also comes in a 30L version.
7. Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW III: For events, reportage and large kits
Two bodies, a telephoto zoom, a flash and a laptop: when your kit gets serious, the Lowepro ProTactic BP 450 AW III is built to carry it all day. Designed for professional photographers, it is just as comfortable at a wedding as on a long outdoor shoot.
Its four access points make all the difference on the job. The two side doors let you grab a camera without taking the bag off, the wide top opening is ideal for a telephoto lens, and the full back opening gives you access to everything at once, which is perfect for organising a video rig. Inside, the molded MaxFit™ dividers fit snugly against the bag’s shape, so your gear stays in place. The back panel holds a laptop up to 16 inches.
The exterior is fully modular. The SlipLock™ webbing works with MOLLE and PALS pouches, and the bag comes with two pouches, two Quick Straps and an All Weather Cover™ for heavy rain. Stretch side pockets take a 1L bottle or a tripod.
The ActivZone™ harness, the removable padded waist belt and the ventilated back panel spread the weight on long days. The bag stands upright on its own and has grab handles at the top and bottom, which makes it easy to lift into an overhead bin.
